Lauren Alaina returned to American Idol on Thursday, May 9 to perform her new single "Barefoot and Buck Wild," a track from her second studio album.
The country singer is an up-tempo track with a little bit more edge than her previous music.
Alaina, the runner-up of season ten of the singing competition show, has moved to Nashville since the release of her debut album, Wildflower. For her forthcoming album she says she has taken a more active role in the songwriting process. Now that she's also experienced a few more crucial milestones in her life she has a bigger range of inspiration to pull from.
"I'm young and I can only sing about certain things," says Alaina. "I'm not going to sing about going out and getting drunk because that would not fly with my parents so I couldn't do that -- but I can sing about a lot more and I have experienced a lot more as a person and have grown a lot."
