Swiss Retail Sales Fall In March

Retail sales in Switzerland declined in March, the latest figures published by the Federal Statistical Office showed Monday.

Retail sales, adjusted for working days, declined 0.9 percent year-on-year in March. In seasonally adjusted terms, retail sales fell 0.1 percent.

Excluding sales of fuel, retail trade turnover declined 1 percent annually in March. Retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered an increase in real turnover of 0.8 percent during the month. Sales at non-food sector fell 3.3 percent.

Sales, excluding fuel, dropped a seasonally adjusted 0.3 percent compared to the previous month.
