Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi is set to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas later this week to discuss an Egyptian brokered deal aimed at reconciliation between Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas, Arab media reported on Monday.
The meeting will begin on Wednesday with discussions on the formation of a transitional government that can be trusted by both factions, Egypt's Ahram Online reported quoting Fatah delegation head Azzam Al-Ahmed.
Elections, security, and reorganization of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) are the other issues to be discussed at the meeting, the report added.
Earlier this year, leaders of the rival Palestinian groups had agreed in Cairo to renew efforts to implement a two-year-old unity deal. The agreement followed talks, the first in 18 months, between Abbas of Fatah and exiled Hamas leader Khaled Mashal. They had met Morsi separately.
The groups have been at odds since Hamas ousted Abbas' forces from the Gaza Strip during clashes in 2007.
