A series of wooden vinyl records of Radiohead and Velvet Underground tracks has been recorded.
The project — in which a 3D laser printer was used to cut songs into wooden discs — was created by software designer Amanda Ghassaei, who made LPs of Radiohead's "Idioteque" on plywood and the Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale" and "Sunday Morning" on maple wood.
She explained the process on the website Instructables, noting that the process creates tracks that are "very full in the lower to mid range, but also very sparse overall." Fans can head over to her site to hear the low quality renderings.
Other tracks that have been previously laser-etched using her method on various materials include Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and David Bowie's "Rebel Rebel."
