Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, the musical with music from John Mellencamp and T-Bone Burnett and lyrics from Stephen King, is set for a 20-date run beginning in October.

The musical, which has been 13 years in the making, centers on the bleak tale of fratricide and doomed love. King, in a news release, said it was an opportunity for he and Mellencamp to try something different:

"John can make rock 'n' roll records and I can write books for the rest of our lives," he said. "But that's the safe way to do it — and that's no way to live if you want to stay creative. We were willing to be educated, and at our age, that's an accomplishment."

The run begins October 10 at Bloomington, Indiana's Indiana University Auditorium and continues through November 6 at Grand Rapids, Michigan's DeVos Performance Hall.
