Bay Street stocks moved up at open Tuesday amid marginal buying across a variety of sectors, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index adding 41.95 points or 0.34 percent to 12,571.51.
In the oil patch, Husky Energy (HSE.TO) and Niko Resources (NKO.TO) were up around 1 percent each.
Among gold plays, Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM.TO) and Barrick Gold (ABX.TO) were up marginally, while Goldcorp. (G.TO) slipped fractionally.
West Africa focused gold miner Semafo Inc. (SMF.TO) lost about 6 percent after slipping into the red in first-quarter,
Pan American Silver Corp. (PAA.TO) shed about 1 percent after reporting a lower first-quarter net earnings.
Base metals miner Teck Resources (TCK_B.TO) was down nearly 1 percent.
Coastal Energy Company (CEN.TO) lost about 7 percent despite reporting a marginally higher first quarter net income.
