Jermaine Jones, a Chicago area man, was hit with felony charges of possessing and producing marijuana after firefighters, responding to a fire at his home, discovered an "extensive cannabis growing operation," according to the Chicago Tribune.
An inhabitant of the home told emergency workers that there was smoke coming from the attic. When fire crews arrived on the scene they found a small electrical fire, which was subsequently put out, and over 100 illicit plants.
Police, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, eventually would remove over 50,000 grams of cannabis with a street value of well over $300,000.
No injuries were recorded and Jones has been charged with felony charges of possessing between 30 to 500 grams of cannabis and producing between 50 and 200 cannabis plants.
