Aretha Franklin has canceled two concerts due to an unspecified medical condition: a May 20 show with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and a May 26 show at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.

"It was canceled for medical reasons," Foxwoods spokeswoman Dale Wolbrink told Reuters without getting into specifics regarding the nature of the Queen of Soul's health issues.

Rumor has it that the 71-year-old is suffering from complications due to diabetes, and in the past she has admitted to battling weight problems.

Janelle Monae is filling in for Franklin's Chicago Symphony Orchestra date, but there has been no announcement regarding the Foxwoods date.

Franklin has three concerts scheduled for later in the summer—two in Canada and one in Michigan—both of which have neither been canceled nor rescheduled.
