Google Inc. (GOOG) unveiled a streaming music subscription service at its I/O conference in San Francisco on Wednesday. The tech giant also announced updates to its other services including Maps, Android mobile operating system and Chrome browser.
Google launched a monthly streaming music subscription service, called Google Play Music All Access, which will cost users $9.99 per month. Early joiners, however, will be able to access the service for a discount rate of $7.99.
The music service will let users play millions of tracks on their computers or mobile devices. With launch of Google Play Music, Google is set to take on Spotify, Pandora, and other similar music subscription services.
Google also revealed new features of its social networking site Google+. It upgraded its Google+ Hangouts, a group video application, to bring real-life conversations online with groups of up to 10 friends.
Google said that around 900 million mobile devices are being powered by its Android operating system.
