Tourist overnight stays in Finnish accommodation establishments remained unchanged from last year in March, preliminary data released by Statistics Finland showed Thursday.
A total of around 1.7 million overnight stays were recorded in March, which was broadly unchanged from the same month a year earlier.
The number number of stays by foreign tourists increased 3.7 percent annually to around 467,000, while overnight stays by resident tourists decreased by 1.4 percent to about 1.3 million.
With a 10.8 percent annual growth in overnight stays in March, Russians continued to be the largest group of foreign tourists. Germans followed with 43,000 overnight stays.
In the January-March period, the number of nights spent at all accommodation establishments dropped by 1.2 percent to 4.5 million. Overnight stays by resident tourists decreased 1.8 percent, while stays by foreign tourists numbered remained unchanged.
