Just Energy Posts Profit From Cont. Ops In Q4 - Quick Facts

Just Energy Group, Inc. (JE,JE.TO), a competitive retailer of natural gas and electricity, Thursday said fourth-quarter profit from continuing operations was C$203.4 million compared to a loss of C$75.6 million last year.

Adjusted EBITDA from continuing operations declined to C$87.5 million from C$107.1 million.

Sales climbed to C$877.5 million from C$794.0 million in the prior year.

New customers totaled 332,000, resulting in 5 percent growth over the prior quarter in the energy marketing base and 3 percent quarterly growth in embedded gross margin. Consumer customer additions amounted to 154,000.

Looking ahead, President and CEO Ken Hartwick The investments and the decisions we made during 2013 will result in increased profitability from our businesses, a stronger balance sheet and a reduction in our payout ratios in fiscal 2014 and beyond," Hartwick stated.

The guidance estimates base EBITDA of C$220 million for fiscal 2014.
