Candice Glover is the champion of "American Idol" season 12. The soaring songstress took home the prize after competing on the talent show three times.
"I can't even -- oh my God. Three years!" said the teary Glover after defeating Kree Harrison in the final match. The previous night both Glover and Harrison had performed three songs apiece, and, when the votes were tallied on Thursday, Glover was the victor.
In round three of the Wednesday show Candice blew away the judges with "I Who Have Nothing," which may have been the clincher:
"You're such a powerhouse singer Candice. And that song, God, it's just like a planet exploding to life. It's amazing," Keith Urban commented of the performance.
The two-hour finale saw plenty of old faces including Scotty McCreery, Danny Gokey, Kimberley Locke and Bo Bice. Judge Mariah Carey even got in the act performing three tracks "We Belong Together," "Hero" and her newest single "#Beautiful."
