A Florida man told police intruders slashed his wife's face and hands but it turned out he had slashed his wife, the Sun Sentinel is reporting.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the incident at a home in Deltona Wednesday and found a 27-year-old woman with blood on her face and hands.
The woman told police that she was home with her two children when her husband took their baby to the store with him.
She said a masked man entered her home and attacked her, demanding money.
The husband, Timothy Hunter, 29, said when he came home he saw one or two shadowy figures running across his yard.
However, police found his story didn't add up.
Hunter eventually confessed that he attacked his wife because he was mad at her for allegedly cheating on him.
Hunter was arrested on felony charges of aggravated battery and destroying or tampering with physical evidence.
Police have identified the victim as Kristin Sottosanti, the Daytona Beach News-Journal is reporting.
