Stage Stores Inc. (SSI) reported a first quarter adjusted loss of $0.02 per share Friday morning, down from the profit of $0.05 per share last year. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $0.09. Full year 2013 adjusted EPS is expected to be between $1.45 and $1.55, compared to the consensus estimate of $1.55.
Stage Stores gapped open lower Friday, but traded in a range for the majority of the session. Shares finished down by 1.89 at $24.19 on the highest volume of the year. The stock sank to a 2 1/2 month low.
