At least 75 people were killed and many injured in a series of bomb blasts in Sunni areas of Iraqi capital Baghdad and surrounding areas on Friday, making it one of the bloodiest attack in recent months.

The deadliest blast struck in the main Sunni mosque in Baqouba, 60 kilometers northeast of Baghdad. While people were gathering to help the wounded, another bomb exploded in the area, leaving at least 41 dead and more than 50 wounded.

The police said that another bomb run off at a funeral tent in the south of Baghdad, killing at least 7 civilians and wounding as many as 28 people.

According to Reuters news agency, 19 people were killed when a roadside bomb exploded near a commercial complex in the Amiriya district of western Baghdad.

In separate attacks, a number of road-side bombings in districts of Doraa and Gazaliyah in Bagdad killed at least 5 and injured at least 25.

Serial bombing also ran off in unrest towns in Fulluja and Madain, killing at least 10 civilians and injuring 35.

The attacks on Friday considered as continuation of retaliatory warfare after car bombs exploded in Shiite neighborhoods of Baghdad and a number of sectarian attacks in other parts of Bagdad in the week, killing at least 100 and injuring many.

The sectarian tension between the Sunni and Shiite communities has been at its highest level since the U.S. troops pulled out from the country at the end of 2011.
