Nearly 60 people were injured after a car traveling in a Virginia parade drove into a crowd of hikers.
A police chief said the unidentified operator apparently suffered from a medical condition at the time of the incident. One person who knew the driver of the Cadillac said the man was in his mid-80's, TriCities.com reports.
The Cadillac struck the rear of a Subaru station wagon just inches away causing it to drive into the crowd.
Among the crowd of hikers at the Appalachian Trail Days parade in Damascus, Va., dozens of people suffered from minor to more serious injuries. The Washington Post reports nine of the victims were taken to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
