Bobby Ray Doyle, a Florida man, is being investigated after his Hummer struck a scooter carrying two people in the rear. Both the driver and passenger were ejected and the passenger, Karen Cagle, was killed, reports the News-Press.
The scooter and the Hummer were traveling westbound on Pine Island Road Saturday night when the crash occurred, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. Doyle's Hummer struck the back of Mitchell's scooter and dragged until both vehicles came to a stop.
The driver of the Scooter, Steven Mitchell, is currently in Lee Memorial hospital in serious condition, reports NBC 2. Cagle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police sent a traffic homicide detective to investigate the scene of the crime. The investigation is underway.
