A Connecticut man was arrested after police found heroin in the back pocket of his gym shorts.
The incident happened when officials responded to reports of drug dealing, the Norwich Bulletin reports. They found Samuel Maldonado who was reaching into the rear of his shorts for something.
Officials reacted as they thought he was pulling out a weapon. In the first attempt to subdue Maldonado, one officer was hit in the face with the man's elbow.
The officer did not need medical attention after he was struck.
When he was restrained, the man's short were searched where 24 pieces of folded paper with heroin were found inside. He was also found to be in possession of Suboxone, a drug typically used for chronic pain.
Maldonado was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school and assault on a police officer.
He is being held on $50,000 bail.
