Randy Travis has filed a lawsuit to prevent the release of a video that captured his DWI arrest. The arrest came in North Texas in 2012, and now various media outlets have reportedly petitioned the Texas Department of Public Safety to release the footage captured from a State Police squad car.
Earlier this month, a judge requested that the Department of Public Safety withhold the video.
According to the Austin American Statesman, Travis has filed the suit against the Department of Public Safety in an attempt to ensure the tape remains private. The Statesman added that the Attorney General ruled May 3 that the judge doesn't have discretion to bar the video's release.
Travis pleaded guilty to the drunk driving rap in January and was sentenced to two years probation in addition to a 180-day suspended prison sentence.
