Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles has confirmed plans for a new solo album produced by Rick Rubin. Nettles broke the news during an interview with Rolling Stone, saying that this album will express musical elements that haven't come across in Sugarland.
"This album is different than what I've done before," she said. "What I do with Sugarland, primarily it's stuff that starts with me and Kristian [Bush, Sugarland co-founder] writing together. It's fun to play with that masculine energy, but for this I wanted to do something really personal - more intimate and emotional."
And as for working with the legendary producer, she explained:
"I'm super-respectful of his pedigree. I still get nervous around him, in a kind of a music-crush way."
The new release is due some time next fall.
