The jury that will decide the fate of convicted murderer Jodi Arias has adjourned on Tuesday, and will resume its deliberations at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Arias addressed the jury on her behalf as she pleaded for them to decide on a sentence of life in prison instead of execution.

That was in contrast to statements saying that she wanted to die when she was found guilty by the same jury in the murder of her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander.

Arias said on Tuesday that while she knew she could never make up for the pain and suffering that she had caused, she could still accomplish some good from behind prison walls.

Arias said that she acted in self-defense when she shot Alexander on June 4, 2008. Alexander's body also had a slit throat and 27 stab wounds, although Arias testified that she blacked out after shooting Alexander and had no memory of stabbing him.
