HICL Infrastructure Company Ltd (HICL.L) Wednesday reported lower profit for the year, impacted by higher service costs for the period.

On a consolidated IFRS basis, the company posted pre-tax profit of 55.4 million pounds, lower than last year's pre-tax profit of 84.2 million pounds. Profit after tax for the year amounted to 67.5 million pounds, lower than 84.8 million pounds reported last year.

On a per share basis, earnings were 7.3 pence, lower than 13.1 pence last year, which the company attributed to lower gains on financial receivables and higher adverse inflation swap mark to market costs.

On an investment basis, however, earnings per share were 10.4 pence versus 9.8 pence reported last year. The firm said the rise reflects a reduction in the weighted average discount rate of 0.2 percent, positive contributions from acquisitions and a good operation performance from the portfolio.

Total income on a consolidated IFRS basis was 407.5 million pounds, higher than 377.8 million pounds reported last year.

Service costs for the year amounted to 169.2 million pounds, up from 130 million pounds in the year-ago period.

On an Investment basis, the NAV per share before distribution was 120 pence at March 31 compared with 116.3 pence last year, while the NAV per share on an IFRS basis before distribution was 117.9 pence compared with 117 pence a year ago.
