A Florida school was forced to evacuate on Tuesday following an alleged bomb threat made my one of the students.
According to police, a 15-year-old boy told another student he was going to bring in a backpack full of explosives to school, The Daytona Beach News Journal reports.
When officials were notified, they evacuated the school made up one 1,000 students from Kindergarten to eight grade. Bomb sniffing dogs searched the building for explosive devices but were unable to find anything.
The Daytona Beach News Journal reports, the teen is being evaluated and is reportedly being sent to a behavioral center for psychiatric and psychological services.
Many parents were angry that the school did not report the threat to them until an hour and half later. The school district said they wanted to get the most accurate information out to parents as it kept changing.
The boy will not be pressed with charges by authorities; the disciplinary measures are in the hands of the school.
