Kate Hudson has joined the cast of Zach Braff's "Wish I Was Here," Braff's crowdfunded sequel to "Garden State."

Hudson has signed on to star as Braff's wife.

"The character of Sarah (my wife) needs to be pretty, funny, believable as a mother of two children ages 5 and 12 and an actress who's skilled at both comedy and drama," Braff wrote on the film's Kickstarter page. "Backers, I am honoured and excited to introduce our leading lady: Kate Hudson."

Braff, who will also direct and co-write the script, will star as Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor who reluctantly agrees to homeschool his father's two young sons.

"The result," Braff teases, "is some funny chaos, until Aidan decides to scrap the traditional academic curriculum and come up with his own."
