"Daily Show" co-creator Lizz Winstead is facing backlash after tweeting several jokes about the devastating tornado that decimated Moore, Okla., on Monday.

Winstead, also a comedian, tweeted a series of politically charged jokes about the tragic disaster to her 75,000 followers.

"This tornado is in Oklahoma so clearly it has been ordered to only target conservatives." She also tweeted: "How long has Obama known about this Tornado?" and "Tornado just bumped me from MSNBC. #Benghazi."

After further details of the tornado's devastation were revealed, the 51-year-old later deleted the tweets and sent out an apology.

"Made a political joke, Twas before devastation revealed. In hindsight, had I understood, I would have refrained. Beyond sorry, #LetMeHaveIt" and "It's worth giving me sh-t. I was an idiot."
