Google Checkout, an online payment processing service was started by Google in an aim to simplify the process of payment for online purchases. The search giant recently announced to the web merchants that it is shutting down its Google Checkout in November 20 in an aim to transition to Google Wallet.

Accordingly, they will have to change to a different payment processing service. To ease out things, Google has partnered with Braintree, Shopify and Freshbooks to provide merchants with discounted migration options.

The Web mammoth stated that the developers using Checkout for transactions through the Chrome Web Store, Google Play and Offers Marketplace will cardinally be transitioned to the Google Wallet Merchant Center as soon as possible.

Shoppers can also continue to use Google Wallet to make purchases on merchant apps and sites. Not only that. They can also use the Google Wallet on Google Play, Chrome Web Store and the like.

The Google Wallet was revamped a week back, and the Instant Buy API allows merchants to offer a fast buying experience to Google Wallet shoppers to purchase products or services on their Android apps and websites, while processing their own payments. Along with it, giving it a more personal touch, the new Wallet Objects API enables merchants to engage their customers with loyalty, offers, and more.
