Gainers:

Dollar Tree, Inc. (DLTR) is rising 2 percent to $49.40. The company's first quarter earnings increased from the prior year period and were above Wall Street view. Consolidated net sales rose 8.3 percent and matched the consensus estimate.

Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ) is surging 10 percent to $23.34 and Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. (PSUN) is up 16 percent to $3.40 following the release of their quarterly results.

Decliners:

Ralph Lauren Corp. (RL) is down over 3 percent to $181.00. The company's fourth quarter profit improved from the year-ago quarter and topped Wall Street view. Meanwhile, net revenues were below the consensus estimate.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) is falling 1 percent to $437.55.

Trading halt:

Trading in shares of rue21, inc. (RUE) was halted. The company agreed to be acquired by funds advised by Apax Partners for $42.00 per share in cash. The transaction is valued at approximately $1.1 billion.
