Slash thinks that Linkin Park's Chester Bennington fits perfectly as Stone Temple Pilots' new frontman. The former Velvet Revolver guitarist, a band that featured original STP frontman Scott Weiland, expressed his support for the re-vamped group via Twitter earlier this week.

"On a quick break from interviews, listening to new @STPband w/ @chesterbe sounds fantastic! Really excited for this new line-up. iiii]; )'"

Bennington made a surprise appearance with STP on May 18, followed by the announcement that he had been named the band's new lead singer. The group has already recorded a song called "Out of Time" which is available for fans to stream online.

Slash, along with Guns n' Roses and Velvet Revolver bandmate Duff McKagan, will perform with Bennington and Stone Temple Pilots on May 30 in Los Angeles for the 9th annual MusiCares MAP fund.
