A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that teen birth rates dropped to an all-time low in 2011.
The CDC report said teen birth rates fell 25 percent from 41.5 per 1,000 teenagers in 2007 to 31.3 in 2011, a record low.
The sharpest decline in teen birth rates was recorded among Hispanic girls, who saw teen birth rates drop by an average of 34 percent.
The CDC noted that teen birth rates fell by 30 percent or more in seven states, with the overall rate cut nearly in half since 1991.
"The thing that surprised me most was the big decline in rates for Hispanics: at least 40 percent in 22 states and the District of Columbia," Brady Hamilton, a co-author of the report said, according to NBC News. "That was pretty impressive. It really caught my eye."
"Teen births are the focus of many public policies," he added. "I think this shows the message is getting out."
