Authorities in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania have arrested and charged eight men in an operation that dealt massive ammounts of high-grade marijuana near Philadelphia.

Local television station KYW-TV reports that the investigation, known as "Operation Weed Whacker," resulted from a tip received by authorities from a member of the community.

Authorities are saying that the drug ring was part of a major nationwide drug distribution network that moved millons of dollars worth of marijuana throughout the country.

"Each of those pounds is sold in Pennsylvania for $4,000 a pound," said Montgomery County DA Risa Ferman. "So we're talking about an organization that in less than one and a half years has moved fourteen-and-a-half million dollars."

Authorites used surveillance and cell phone wiretaps to break up the organization and confiscated guns, cell phones, approximately $700,000 in cash, and hundreds of pounds of marijuana during the raid.
