Subsequent to a series of hacking attacks on Twitter accounts, especially on celebrity and high profile accounts, the micro blogging site is all set to keep it more secure. To put a full stop on hacking attempts, the site is planning to provide maximum privacy by introducing two-step authentication. Popular social media sites have already implemented such a secure login.

The two-factor authentication is an optional feature for Twitter users and need to confirm email address and a verified phone number. After the quick test, the account holder will get a six digit verification code message on the verified mobile number.

The code need to be entered, whenever the user attempts to login to the site from a new device. The applications management page may be used to generate a temporary password, log in and authorize that application.

This security feature has rightly come in time after the blow-by-blow hacks of the high-profile twitter accounts of the Associated Press, The Guardian, AFP, Burger King, Jeep, etc.
