Carrie Underwood is donating $1 million to assist in disaster relief efforts for her home state of Oklahoma, following the devastating tornado that swept through the town of Moore on Monday. The Checotah, OK native is providing the American Red Cross with proceeds that have come from her recently wrapped Blown Away tour.
"I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness," Underwood said. "With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornadoes."
The tornado killed 24 people, destroyed an estimated 13,000 homes and caused about $2 billion in damage.
Underwood has previously donated proceeds from her tour to help parts of New Jersey recover from Hurricane Sandy.
