Bilfinger SE said Monday that it plans to divest its concessions business due to the declining strategic role of the business segment.

In its concessions business segment, Bilfinger implements transport and social infrastructure projects on the basis of long-term concession contracts as a private partner to the public sector. Important markets include Australia, North America and Europe. The project portfolio currently comprises 16 projects to which equity of EUR254 million has been committed.

Business opportunities with other units of the company, construction areas in particular, have also decreased significantly, Bilfinger said.

The company said it will now begin concrete talks with potential buyers.
