Chrysler Group LLC, majority-owned by Italian carmaker Fiat SpA (FIATY.PK), reported its U.S. vehicle sales for the month of May 2013 increased 11% to 166,596 units from 150,041 units in the prior year month.
The Fiat 500 set a sales record for the month of May with its 1 percent increase. Sales of the Chrysler Town & Country minivan were up 4 percent in May.
Total car sales for the month rose 16% to 54,351 units, and total truck sales grew 9% to 112,245 units from the year-ago month.
