Lauren Alaina, the 18-year-old singer-songwriter who shot to fame on American Idol in 2011, graduated from high school on Friday.
The singer's graduation from Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School was captured in a video then posted online. The clip features Alaina's classmates cheering loudly as she walks across the stage. Her mother, Kristy Suddeth, later tweeted a picture of Alaina with her cake, celebrating her accomplishment.
Alaina, who finished as the runner-up to Scotty McCreery on the tenth season of Idol, released her debut album Wildflowers in 2011. She has since released her latest single, "Barefoot & Buckwild," which was chosen to be the theme song for a new Seaworld attraction called "Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin."
"Barefoot & Buckwild" is the lead single from Alaina's yet-to-be titled sophomore album.
