Apple Inc. (AAPL) is down 0.56 percent to $446.78. Yesterday, the U.S. International Trade Commission ruled that Apple has violated a patent owned by South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. in making certain iPhone and iPad models.
Walgreen Co. (WAG) is up 0.56 percent to $48.30. The company's sales for the month of May increased 4.3 percent. Total front-end sales increased 3.4 percent, while comparable store front-end sales rose 1.2 percent.
Ambarella, Inc. (AMBA) is up 7 percent to $17.30 and Mattress Firm Holding Corp. (MFRM) is rising 4 percent to $39.30 following the release of their quarterly results.
Avanir Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AVNR) is gaining 7 percent to $3.63. The company announced that the FDA has agreed to an expedited development pathway for their next-generation compound, AVP-786. Upon completion of these preclinical studies, the company intends to proceed directly into human clinical trials.
Decliners:
Layne Christensen Co. (LAYN) is falling 10 percent to $18.87. The company slipped to a loss in its first quarter. Total revenues for the quarter declined 16.7 percent from the year-ago quarter. The company noted that its first quarter was significantly impacted by losses at Geoconstruction, higher corporate expenses, primarily from its move to Texas, and substantial quarter-over-quarter reductions in Mineral Exploration revenues and profitability.
