Tom Hardy, who recently took a turn as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, may be cast as Elton John in the upcoming Rocketman biopic. The actor is already serving as an executive producer on the film. The film's producers, however, have denied Hardy has been cast as Elton.
According to Hitfix, the film is "a biographical musical fantasy that weaves together the life of Sir Elton John and his music."
Commercials director Michael Gracey will helm the picture, which was written by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot).
"Michael has an innovative, imaginative and compelling vision for the film," Rocket CEO Steve Hamilton Shaw told Deadline Hollywood. "We want to create an experience that surprises and moves audiences and knew immediately that he was the perfect director to take them on this journey."
