Scott Weiland has filed a countersuit against the Stone Temple Pilots, the band he formerly fronted but from which he was booted earlier this year. STP hit Weiland with a suit last month after replacing him with Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington.

Weiland's complaint, obtained by Rolling Stone magazine, says that the band had no right to fire him in the first place:

"How do you expel a man from a band that he started, named, sang lead on every song, wrote the lyrics and was the face of for 20 years, and then try to grab the name and goodwill for yourselves? You don't, but three of the instrumentalists from the band Stone Temple Pilots tried."

Weiland demands $7 mil in damages and asks that the band be dissolved, according to USA Today. He's currently on tour with his new band, the Wildabouts, who are performing STP songs much to the chagrin of the band's remaining members.
