Costco Wholesale May Comparable Sales Up 5% - Quick Facts

Membership warehouses operator Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) reported a 5 percent growth in May 2013 comparable sales, with monthly net sales increasing 7 percent to $8.13 billion, from the prior year's $7.57 billion.

The company said that changes in gasoline prices and foreign exchange rates had negative impacts on comparable sales for the four-week period. Excluding these effects, comparable sales for the month were up 6%.

For the thirty-nine weeks ended June 2, 2013, the company reported net sales of $77.13 billion, an increase of eight percent from $71.28 billion during the similar period last year. Comparable sales for the period were up 6%.
