Swiss Jobless Rate Rises In May

Switzerland's unemployment rate rose to a seasonally adjusted 3.2 percent in May from 3.1 percent in April, data from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs showed Monday. It was forecast to remain unchanged at 3.1 percent in May.

However, on an unadjusted basis, the rate fell to 3 percent from 3.1 percent in the previous month.

The number of unemployed decreased by 4,561 from the prior month to 131,290 at the end of May. Compared to the previous year, unemployment rose by 12,430.

At the same time, youth unemployment fell by 1,335 on month to 16,477 in May. At the end of May, registered job seekers totaled 185,012, down 5,355 from April.
