India's Domestic Car Sales Dips By 12%: Motorcycle Sales Fell By 1%

Domestic passenger car sales in May declined by 12 percent to 1,43,216 units from the 1,63,222 units in the same month of 2012, while total sales of commercial vehicles declined by 11 percent to 55,458 units from 62,032 units in the year-ago period, as per Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data.

Motorcycle sales during last month declined by one percent to 8,81,288 units from the 8,87,646 units in the same month previous year, whereas total two-wheeler sales rose by one percent to 12,06,173 units from the 11,92,700 units in the same period of previous year.

Total sales of vehicles across categories was down by one percent at 14,98,909 units, compared to 15,12,986 units in the same month last year.
