Encana Names Ex-BP Executive Doug Suttles CEO - Update

Canadian energy producer Encana Corp. (ECA.TO,ECA) Tuesday announced that it has appointed former BP Plc (BP, BP.L, BP_UN.TO) executive Doug Suttles as its president and chief executive officer, and a director of the company.

Suttles, with 30 years of oil and gas leadership experience, most recently served as chief operating officer of BP Exploration & Production.

Earlier this year, Encana had announced the retirement of its president and chief executive officer Randall Eresman, after serving the company for about 35 years. The company had appointed Clayton Woitas, a director of Encana and president and chief executive officer of Range Royalty Management Ltd., as its interim president and chief executive officer.

ECA is currently trading at $18.33, down 1.24 percent on the NYSE. On the Toronto Stock Exchange, the shares ended on Monday at C$18.91.
