Sony finally unveiled PlayStation 4, its latest gaming console, at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event in Los Angeles. The company said PlayStation 4 will go on sale this holiday season and will cost $399 in US, $100 cheaper than Microsoft's Xbox One.

Sony had announced the PS4 in February, but did not exhibit the console then, except its controller. The company on Tuesday revealed the new PS4, a black rectangular box with disc slot, buttons and power indicator.

Microsoft had on Monday said its next generation gaming console Xbox One would cost $499 and will launch in 21 countries in November.

Sony said PS4 will support used games and also won't require users to be online in order to play games, the two drawbacks for Xbox One. Sony expects PS4 to help the electronic giant win back gamers lost to Microsoft Xbox and return it to the once-held dominant position in gaming industry.

Sony Consumer Electronics President Shuhei Yoshida announced the PS4 exclusive titles that will be available at launch, which includes DRIVECLUB, Killzone: Shadow Fall and Knack.

PS4 runs on an eight x86-64 cores AMD Jaguar processor with enhanced graphics processing unit and is equipped with 8 GB of unified system memory, and 500 GB hard disk drive. PS4 will be available this holiday season in North America and Europe and will cost $399 in US and Canada, €399 in Europe and £349 in UK.
