Turnover in Finnish manufacturing sector contracted 5.9 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2013, data from Statistics Finland showed Thursday.
Domestic sales fell 8.5 percent annually and export turnover dropped 3.8 percent. Electrical and electronics industry recorded the sharpest contraction with a 13.3 percent fall in turnover.
Separately, the statistical office reported that the turnover generated by service industries grew 0.8 percent in the first quarter when compared with the same period last year.
