The Flaming Lips have signed on to appear at the upcoming Rock for Oklahoma concert planned to benefit the victims of the recent tornado in the town of Moore. The show is scheduled to take place on July 23 in Oklahoma City and will also feature the Kings of Leon.

Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne, an Oklahoma City resident, shared his thoughts on the benefit in a statement:

"Shakespeare said 'It is not enough to help the needy up, but to support them after and in our small way we are trying to not just be here at the moment of immediate need, but to stay and help with the rebuilding. After all, this is our home and they are us and we are them."

Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill also shared a statement:

"We couldn't be more proud to lend a hand to our home state. We were all devastated by what happened there . . . we have family and friends that were affected by the tornadoes . . . this is the least we could do."
