John Rich has once again thrown his weight behind a meaningful charity, this time mental health services for veterans. The country star held a special fundraiser in Nashville on June 12 to help raise money for a new mental health wing at Fort Campbell hospital.
The new facility, called Intrepid Spirit 3, will support vets suffering from a range of conditions including PTSD, traumatic brain injuries and depression. It's a cause that's dear to Rich's heart, as his grandfather suffered from severe PTSD before taking his own life at the age of 82:
"He killed himself in his front yard and left a note behind that said, 'I just can't stand it anymore,'" Rich said to the Tennessean. "The survivors' guilt he was going through was unbearable. I gotta think that if a place like we're trying to build still existed . . . my granddaddy might still be around, so let's build it."
