At least 11 female students have been killed and around 20 wounded in a blast on a university bus in the western Pakistan city, Quetta.

The bomb exploded after students boarded the bus inside the Bahadur Khan Women University campus. The strong explosion completely destroyed the bus.

Later, another bomb hit the Bolan Medical Complex where the victims were taken. Reports said police and militants exchanged fire at the hospital.

No militant group has claimed responsibility for the blast. Quetta is the capital of the resource-rich Balochistan province.

Earlier in the day, militants attacked a historic building, used by Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, killing a policeman. The heritage Quaid Azam Residency in the hill town of Ziarat was destroyed in the early hours of the morning.

Jinnah spent the last days of his life in the historic wooden structure.
