Federal authorities are preparing to dig up a field in Oakland Township, Michigan on Monday in searching for the remains of Jimmy Hoffa.

The search comes after a series of interviews conducted between former Mafia underboss Tony Zerilli and WDIV-TV disclosed that Hoffa had been buried in a shallow grave in that field.

Zerilli, 85, was convicted of organized crime as Mafia captain, was in prison in 1975 when Hoffa went missing and claims he was informed about the whereabouts of Hoffa's remains following his release.

According to Zerilli, the initial plan was to bury Hoffa temporarily in the field and then take his body to be buried at a hunting lodge in northern Michigan.
