A new study conducted by the Pew Research Center shows that news organizations are more likely to show a supportive view of same-sex marriages.
The researchers gathered a sample of mainstream media coverage over a two-month period, and discovered that a lot of stories contained either a balanced mix of views or no views at all. The remainder of stories, found that approximately five times as many stories were weighted in their support for same-sex marriage as were against the opposition.
"A story was deemed to be in support of or opposition to same-sex marriage if the statements expressing that view outnumbered opposing statements by at least 2-to-1," the report stated.
Politico reports that Pew studied almost 500 stories from over 50 news sources from March 18-May 12 for their study.
