Woman Arrested After Throwing Acid In Man's Face

Authorities in Largo, Florida arrested a woman on Sunday morning after she allegedly threw a bottle of muriatic acid at a man's face.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Melissa Diane Egbert, 39, also known as, Melissa Howlett, was seen by security cameras, throwing acid in the man's face at his residence at around 2:30 a.m. before quickly fleeing the scene in her car.

Muriatic acid is another name for hydrochloric acid and is used as a solvent that cleans concrete, tile and other hard surfaces.

According to authorities, Egbert had been romantically involved with her victim for over a year.

Authorities have not disclosed the identity or condition of the victim.

In the mean time, Egbert is being held in the Pinellas County Jail on a $100,000 bail.
